Community Park
Town of Enfield takes bold steps to help our kids
During the 2008 Town Board Retreat the focus was on how could we get kids off
the streets and help reduce crime in the Enfield area and provide recreation
activities for all groups, including senior citizens. The town board voted to
hire a full-time Parks & Recreation Director, purchase the old fair-ground land
on HWY 301 to be developed into the Enfield Community Park, and to contract with
Region L Council of Governments to complete a comprehensive town wide Parks &
Recreation plan.
A director was hired, land was purchased and we are in the process of completing
the comprehensive plan. During the past year the town replaced badly needed park
equipment at Meyer Oak View Park and supported the Enfield Warriors Football
program. The town currently uses the old Inborden School Cafeteria and Gym for
our recreational activities.
We are in the process of putting together a PARTF grant application to the state
to renovate the old fair ground land and buildings on HWY 301.
How YOU can help
-
Fill out the Parks & Recreation Survey. Tells us what you do for recreation
and what would you like for us to provide. These surveys are a requirement
for the grant application.
Download the survey here, print, fill-out and mail to us by
December 23, 2009.
-
We need letters of support from civic groups, churches, businesses, business
leaders, state and local elected officials.
-
Talk to kids in your area and ask what type of recreation programs would
they like to see offered. Pass this information on to the Parks & Recreation
Board of Directors.
-
The grant funds are based on a 50/50 match. If you donate a dollar, we can
receive a dollar in matching funds. Please consider a donation of $25, $50,
$100, $500 or $1000. Of course we will accept any donated amount. The grant application is due February 1,
2010, so we must move quickly.
-
We cannot complete this project in one year, but we can go as far as YOUR
DONATIONS WILL ALLOW.
